Q: What is strip formatting and/or why does it occur?
A: We want to save you a lot of trouble in creating the content on your wellness portal. If you paste text directly from Microsoft Word, PDF's or other sources outside of our native web editor, we will in most cases strip out any formatting to avoid problems with incompatible formatting. Unless you create a lot of content on websites, you might not realize that most websites don't deal very well with formatting in Word and other offline programs.
If you're a big Facebook user, you might wonder why you can paste anything you want into Facebook. The simple answer is that Facebook doesn't allow you to format your text, so they automatically strip any formatting out of your text when you paste it. You just don't usually give it much thought.
BodySite, on the other hand, DOES let you format (bold, italic, underline, bullets, center, font size, etc.). BUT, like most websites with text editors, ours does not like the formatting that comes along with Microsoft Word. So, we strip it and you'll just need to format the text again in our editor, which should only take a moment or two.
